Borrowing books or library materials for the first time

Individuals who live in or commute to Shiojiri, or alternatively reside in the neighborhood areas of Shiojiri can receive a library card. Please bring proof of identification with your address on it (such as a health insurance card, a valid driver’s license or foreign resident registration card).
The library card can be used at any Shiojiri city library (main library and 8 branches).

Replacement for a lost card costs 100 yen.
Please refrain from eating in the library. Only drinks with lids may be brought in.No talking on cell phones inside library. Please use cell phone outside of the library or phone booth (2F).

Checking Out Items

Please bring your library card and all the items you want to borrow to the checkout counter.
You may borrow up to 15 items, including up to 4 AV materials (CDs, DVDs) for a 2-week period.

Returning items

Items may be returned to any of our libraries. You will not need to show your library card when returning them. After library hours, you can return books and magazines into the book post.
However, CDs must be returned to the counter of the library at any time.

How to Search for and reserve items

You can search all items in Shiojiri city libraries, from user terminals (OPAC) in our libraries.
At the libraries, you can make reservations for items you would like to use. You can do this by the request/reservation card at the checkout counter. If you cannot find the books you wish in the Shiojiri city libraries, we will look for them in other libraries or consider the purchase of the books.　However, reservation or request for comics is limited to the items in Shiojiri City Library.

Saturday:                              9:30am- 8:00pm
Sunday, and the national holidays:        9:30am – 6:00pm

Closed days

Wednesdays, the last Monday of every month, year-end and new year holidays, and special operations period. Please refer to our library calendar.
